News: The 5th Gran Premio de Mijas

The 5th Gran Premio de Mijas , was recently played at the La Cala Resort and saw an excellent turn out of many local and international players taking part.

This annual tournament, sponsored by the Mijas Town Hall, was played over two days on Campo Europa and Campo America courses with players choosing to enter either medal or handicap play.

The Mijas Town hall was represented by Tourism Councillor, Santiago Martín, who kindly assisted with the prize giving ceremony which was held outside on the lovely Bellavista Terraza of the 19th Hole, Restaurant.

A brilliant effort by Juan Ruiz Batana in the first category saw him take the overall scratch prize with a superb gross score of 74 and 73 shots. Second category winner Pedro Luis Gomez also shot a very credible 148 Net score over the two days. The ladies champion was La Cala resident Sylvia Robbins who played consistently on both courses with a 77 and 76 net score. Best result for each day went to La Cala member Manfred Wetzel on day one and local player Andres Morales Sanchez on day 2 on the Campo America, both with a superb 68 net score.
